An Educational Opportunity for Clergy, Lay Leaders & Stephen's Ministers

The Minister as Crisis Counselor
Individuals and families in crisis often turn first to their pastor or congregational leaders for support. This day of training will begin with an in-depth look at the latest research on crisis. This symposium will conclude with trainees focusing and reflecting on pastoral issues as it relates to crisis. We will discuss the impact crises have on the church as a whole as well as to those whom you may have face-to-face contact. Ultimately, you will have the opportunity to interact with other pastors and lay leaders, engage in profound discussion about common trends and best practices, as well as discover a wealth of knowledge while also learning the answers to the following questions:

• What is a crisis?
• How should I best respond to a crisis?
• When should I refer parishioners for more in-depth counseling?
• How can I best provide ongoing support for persons who have gone through a recent crisis?
• Much, much, more!
